BCL demands IU’s new Proctor’s removal

A group of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Saturday demanded removal of appointment of new proctor Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman.  

They made the demand after meeting with IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun Ur-Rashid Askari at VC’s office. Faisal Siddique, Mizanur Rahman Lalon, Towkir Mahfuz Masud and Shishhir Islam Babu led the delegation. 

The BCL leaders raised several complain against Dr Mahbub as he was involved with Jamat-Shibir at Rajshahi University in students life and he ordered police to shoot in BCL rally during his proctorship  in 2014.

A controversial parson, corrupt and mastermind of recruitment scam Dr Mahbub how could be made a proctor of a university for the third time during AL government, they claimed.

The activists threaten over its administrative body to go hard-line measures and movement if the demand is not met within 24 hours. IU VC Dr Askari said the university authority made decision considering condition of the university and they would try to keep the campus free from outsiders and drug.

IU Pro-vice chancellor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha was present here. Earlier, IU authority appointed Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman of EEE department as new proctor for the third time on September 8 while he took charge on Saturday morning.
