BCL 50-over tourney kicks off today

Four U-19 players to play

The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) in Limited overs match will begin at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium, Cox’s Bazar on Sunday. Four times champions South Zone will take on North Zone, who clinched title six years ago. On the other hand, Central Zone will commence against East Zone at the same venue on the day. 

As always, the Central Zone, South Zone, North Zone and East Zone are participating this time. Central Zone and East Zone will face each other in the first round. In the other match, the South Zone will face the North Zone.

Besides, the Central-South and North-East matches will be held on December 26 and the Central-North and South-East matches will be held on December 28. 

At the end of the three rounds of the league, the final will be held at Sher-E-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, with the top two teams in the points table on December 30. Each match before the final will be played in daylight at Cox's Bazar and the final match will be played day and night at Mirpur.

The squad of 4 teams has already been finalized.

Besides, the Central-South and North-East matches will be held on December 26 and the Central-North and South-East matches will be held on December 28. Each match before the final will be played in daylight at Cox's Bazar and the day and night final match will be played at Mirpur.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selected some of the Under-19 players in One-day squad of the four teams of Bangladesh

Cricket League (BCL) in a bid to give them some game time ahead of the Youth World Cup in South Africa next year.

The One-day format of the BCL to start on December 24. All of the group matches will be held in Cox's Bazar when the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will host only the final on December 30.

Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, the highest run-getter in the Asia Cup will play for the South Zone along with his national Under-19 teammate Wasi Siddique. 

Captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, Jehadul Haque Jihad and opener Jishan Alam will play for Central Zone while the pace bowlers of the U-19 team were given rest.

After the BCL, the junior Tigers will start preparation for the

World Cup from January 1, next year to be held in South Africa. After a week-long preparation at home, they will fly to South African where they will have a conditioning camp before the tournament starts on January 19.
