Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Station Pagla conducting a special operation at Dhaleshwari river in Kathpatti area under Munshiganj Sadar police station on Sunday midnight.
As many as 5,000 kg of hilsa fry (Jatkas) were seized from a passenger launch named Farhan-5 during the raid held based on secret information. It was not possible to arrest anyone as the real owners of the seized Jatka were not found during the operation.
The seized Jatkas were later distributed among local orphans and destitute in the presence of the Munshiganj Executive Magistrate and the Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer.
Regular operations will be carried out in the areas under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Coast Guard to ensure law and order, curb robberies, ensure public safety as well as to prevent illegal fishing and Jatka fishing.
