BCG rescues 6 people from sunken trawler in Meghna river

On Sunday (October 17) afternoon, an engine-powered wooden trawler carrying passengers and goods sank with nine people in the Char Fatila area of the Meghna River under Dakshin Aicha police station of Bhola district due to bad weather and storm.

Upon receiving the news, a special rescue team rushed to the spot from Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) outpost in Charmanika under Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone.

Later, out of the nine passengers of the sunken trawler, six passengers were found alive and the body of a child named Md Junaid Hossain (2) was recovered. The rescued persons were given first aid and the body was handed over to his family.

Besides, two passengers are still missing. The missing persons are identified as Md Swapan (28) of Mujibnagar area under Dakshin Aicha police station of Bhola district and his mother Bilkis Begum (50). The rescue operation of Bangladesh Coast Guard outpost in Charmanika is continuing.
