BCG nabs 6 with 3000 kg Jatka

Personnel of Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested 6 with 3000 kilos of Jatka from Chandpur and Pagla area. Coast Guard officials of Monday conducted multiple drives and arrested the peddlers with a pick-up van, a press release said that.

Recieving a tip-off, Station Commander Lieutenant M Asaduzzaman led a team of BCG personnel from Chandpur Station to Gachtala Bridge area for a search operation. 5 peddlers with 1000 kilograms of Jatka were seized during the drive. A pick-up van was also found at the scene.

Fisheries Officer Faruk Ahmed and Executive Magistrate Imran Mahmud Dali were also present at the drive. Later, 4 of the peddlers were sentenced for 1 year and one was released due to being minor. The fishes were distributed to distressed people and local madrasas. The vehicle was seized and currently at Chandpur BCG Station.

Meanwhile, BCG Pagla Station Personnel conducted a drive at pier 5 of Narayanganj Terminal and arrasted 1 with 5000 kilos of Jatka fish. Later, the fishers were distributed to local madrasas. Bangladesh Coast Guard official at a press conference said that such drives will be continued to curb the crime rate in the area.
