Bangladesh Coast Guard has come forward to help the helpless and miserable people in coastal areas affected by the Corona virus. Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haque, Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard handed over a checque of equivalent amount of one-day basic pay of all level BCG members to Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Principal Secretary of Prime Minister's Office on Sunday.
The ammount was donated to Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund, to help with corona virus prevention program near the coastal area. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina participated in the ceremony through a video conference from Ganabhaban.
At the time, the Director General informed about the steps taken by the Bangladesh Coast Guard to prevent the spread the virus and said that every member of the force is ready to deal with any situation as directed by the government in future.
The Prime Minister thanked all members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard for donating the equivalent of a day's wages to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to combat the situation.
Bangladesh Coast Guard already distributed food items among 2,500 unemployed people in the coastal area and the initiative will continue.
