The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Monday called for Expressions of Interest from reputable business entities to hold six franchises in the Bangladesh Premier League T20.

The BCB posted an EOI on their website for the country's franchise-based T20 tournament.

According to the EOI, the eighth edition of the BPL would be a special edition to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation.

It's been reported that a handful of the tournament's former franchises have expressed interest in owning the rights to the tournament this year, which will be a "pilot project."

Following the season, the BPL T20 governing council will assess the teams and, if necessary, change the regulations before giving long-term rights to the same team owners.

The tournament's eighth edition is tentatively set to take place between January 20 and February 20, 2022.

The EOI must be submitted by December 5 to be considered.
