Bashundhara Group provided food aid to more than 500 poor, destitute and unemployed people in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The event was inaugurated by Bashundhara Group's Sector A Marketing and ICCB Chief Operating Officer MM Jasim Uddin at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) premises in the 300-foot area of the capital. Other officials of the group were also present at the time.

Harris Mia, a day laborer in the capital's Natunbazar area, was unemployed for 11 consecutive days in lockdown. At that time he was in trouble with his family.

Bashundhara Group, the country's leading industrial group, has stood by him with relief in such a difficult time. Unable to find a language of gratitude, Harris said, "No one employs me in the lockdown. I was in great danger with my family. However, I was very happy the day these guys came with the card. I got a lot of relief today. I pray for the Bashundhara Group."

Motalib, a mason, said after receiving the relief, "I got a lot of relief today, I heard they will give more. Last year many people gave relief but this time I got it only from here."

Receiving relief, Kohinoor Begum (35) said, "I got peace after 12 days. I did not know where to go or what to do in this lockdown. I was in great danger. However, today I will eat with my children with heart's contentment."

After the relief distribution, MM Jasim Uddin said, "We are carrying out relief distribution across the country under the direction of Bashundhara Group's Hon'ble Chairman Mr Ahmed Akbar Sobhan." The relief has been given to those who have lost their jobs in Corona and to the poor."
