Bashundhara Kings just four matches away to celebrate the Bangladesh Premier League football title for the fourth time in a row when they defeated Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 on Friday.

Held at the Bashundhara King Sports Complex Miguel Damascena and Dorielton scored one goal each against the 10-man CTG Abahani Limited helped king to return to winning way.

King’s 14th win and one draw in 16 games is almost a confirmation that the traditional Reds are heading to win the title, as they earned 43 points from 16 outings and from as many matches their closest contenders Abahani limited (Dhaka) are 10 points behind them.

Bashundhara Kings suffered two consecutive defeats in their previous matches with going down to Bangladesh Police FC by 2-1 in a League match and were eliminated from the semifinal of the Federation Cup suffering defeat to Mohammedan Sporting Club in same margin.

But on the day, they looked very much confident and very offensive right from the first whistle against the Chittagong Abahani, had to wait only 16 minutes to make the breakthrough.

Oscar Bruzon’s side were clearly superior in the first half, but struggled to generate any real danger against the Chittagong outfit, as they opened the first clearest chance for once in the first 45 minutes game on 16th. The goal came with Miguel Damasceno converting a penalty. Indeed, it was the Brazilian midfielder Miguel, who instigated the move that opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Miguel lofted long ball inside the area for Dorielton, but on the way to take the ball possession CTG Abahani keeper Nayeem Mia challenged Dorielton rather than to catch the ball. Referee called for foul against the goalkeeper and directed for spot kick. Miguel did not miss to net the ball to lead Kings (1-0).

After trailing by the penalty goal, CT Abahani saw a setback when their defender Forhad Mona saw red card for challenging referee decision.

The second was from Dorielton’s header just five minutes after the break on 5oth minute.

The second half began in the best possible way for the defending champions, as the hosts doubled their lead from a corner kick. With 50 minutes on the clock, Robson swung the ball into the danger zone and Dorielton rose highest to head home (2-0).

This time with counter attack Kings forwards rushed inside the CTG Abahani area and earned a corner. Robson Robinho, captain of the Kings precisely took a pinpointed corner kick that found Dorielton in the area.

It was the 14th goal for Dorielton to be the leading scorer.

The Reds almost added a third on 61st when Miguel crossed for Dorielton to head goal-wards only to be denied by Nasur Uddin Chowdhury, former stopper back of the national team. Abahani could have goals in the first and had good chances to lead with going closer to level the margin first on 34th minute when Iqbal had to be at his best to thwart an effort from Rocky, as the striker found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper but his effort went out the side-post. CTG Abahnai were unfortunate not to have the equalizer when Mostafa having Kings custodian in one-on-one situation but could beat Anisur Rahan Zico.

Kings managed the game well after that and kept the visitors at bay to return to winning ways.

In the day’s other matches Abahani Limited (Dhaka) defeated Sheikh Russel KC by 3-1 and Mohammedan Sporting Club won by a solitary goal win against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
