Nusrat Jahan Tania, sister of Mosarat Jahan Munia, the college student whose body was recovered from a luxurious flat in Dhaka's Gulshan, filed a case against Bashundhara Group in the Dhaka Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-6 court on Monday, alleging ‘rape and murder’.
In this context, Bashundhara Group provided a statement the same day with their version on the matter.
According to Bashundhara Group, the case has been filed conspiratorially and the plaintiff has deliberately lodged it with unrealistic, baseless and hypothetical information to discredit Bashundhara Group.
The Group will deal with the case through due legal process, the statement said.
They further claimed that the same plaintiff had earlier filed a false case against Bashundhara Group’s MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir in connection with the death of her sister Munia.
Police investigation found the allegation untrue, and therefore the managing director of Bashundhara Group was cleared of the charge.
She has again deliberately filed a false case involving the names of Bashundhara Group’s Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and his family members, said the written statement.
Afroza Begum, wife of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, and Sabrina Sobhan, wife of Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, have also been made accused in the case. Describing the case as fabricated and baseless, the statement said the main purpose of the lawsuit is to humiliate and blackmail the members of Bashundhara Group.
