BARI hands over RT-PCR machine to health ministry

Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has handed over a RT-PCR machine (with accessories) to Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to identify people infected with the global epidemic Corona Virus (COVID-19).

The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare handed over the RT-PCR machine to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU). Director General of BARI Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab, on behalf of the Institute, handed over the RT-PCR machine to Accountant of the Virology Department of Shamsul Alam on Saturday, says a press release.

The 7500 Fast System model Singapore made RT-PCR machine can successfully identify the people who have been infected with the Corona Virus (COVID-19). It is to be noted that after the corona virus test activities, the RT-PCR machine will be returned to BARI as usual.

BARI Director (Support & Services) Mr. Habibur Rahman Sheikh, Director (Training and Communication) Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, Director (Planning and Evaluation) Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam, Chief Scientific Officer of the Plant Breeding Division Dr. Md. Amiruzzaman, scientists and officials were, among others, present at the handover ceremony.

At the handover ceremony, BARI Director General Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab said more tests were needed to prevent the global epidemic of corona virus (Kovid-19) from spreading in a horrific manner across the country. I hope this RT-PCR machine will help to detect corona infected people. Everyone in BARI is proud to be a part of this disaster.
