Banshkhali patients get free eye treatment

A free eye camp and cataract surgery camp consisting of 15 experienced doctors of Cox's Bazar Baitush Sharaf Hospital provided free treatment to many underprivileged people of Banshkhali of Chattogram on Saturday and Sunday.

The free eye treatment camp was organised under the initiative of Saber Ahmed Master Memorial Foundation and Bangladesh American Charitable Organization (BACHAO) at Baharchara Ratnapur High School of the Upazila.

About 1,200 patients received eye treatment and 372 patients were selected for cataract surgery.  Under this organization, nearly 15 thousand patients have been provided medical care and more than 1,898 poor rural patients have been fitted with lenses including cataract surgery (SICS) so far.

The founder of the organisation Muhammad Mujibur Rahman said that there is a kind of satisfaction when people say that before they could not see the streets, they could not pray but now they can do everything after receiving treatment. 

Every year around 200-250 surgery patients receive treatment here.  Economic support for this work is given by Saber Ahmad Master Memorial Foundation and American organization BACHAO.  He also expressed his hope that this work will continue.

Baharchara Ratnapur High School Headmaster Swapan Babu, Assistant Headmaster of the school Manjur Alam, UP Member Ibrahim Sikder, UP Member Manjur, UP Member Sahabuddin Ahmad, Advocate Ehchanul Haque, Md Harunur Rashid, teacher Harunur Rashid, teacher Aziz Ahmed were present. All teachers, Scouts and Girl Guides were responsible for maintaining the discipline of the eye camp.
