Bangladeshis can submit nomination for UNESCO-Sharjah Prize Award

Bangladeshis are encouraged to submit nominations for the 20th UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture. This award has a monetary value of sixty thousand US Dollars, or 65 lakh 79 thousand 48 taka in Bangladeshi currency.

The announcement on the websites of the Bangladesh UNESCO National Commission and the Ministry of Education states that funding from the United Arab Emirates is used to present the award. Every year, the award is given to two well-known people or organizations from Arab nations and the outside world in recognition of their contributions to the growth and dissemination of Arab culture as well as intercultural communication and understanding.

Two winners will receive US$60,000, which will be distributed equally between them by the UNESCO Secretary-General upon the recommendation of an international jury panel. Nominees have until January 31 to email the completed nomination form and all required supporting documentation. February 11 has been added as the new deadline. Nominations and applications for this award should be sent to the host organization via the national commission of UNESCO in each of the participating nations. Nominations for awards take into account the importance of women and youth.

Nominations for this award should go to a qualified individual, institution, or organization. The completed application form for the selected individual, institution, or organization should be sent to the Bangladesh UNESCO National Commission by February 11 in two sets (hard copy and soft copy), together with any supporting documentation.
