Bangladeshi mango now popular abroad: Sadhan

A three day-long mango fair with the slogan "We are on the side of farmers" to develop an agro-based economy has started at Krishibid Institute on Friday. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder inaugurated the fair.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, miinster Sadhan Chandra Majumder said that Bangladesh has now achieved success in fruit production. Mango production has increased a lot especially in the Barind region. Therefore, a plan has been taken to brand me in Naogaon.

The food minister said Naogaon is now a mango surplus district. The mangoes of this district are also going abroad. The popularity of Naogaon mango is increasing in the domestic and foreign markets. This reputation must be maintained.

Emphasizing on the conservation and versatile use of mango, Sadhan Chandra Majumder said that the versatile use of mango should be increased. A variety of products can be prepared with mango. The work of establishing economic zone in Sapahar of Naogaon district has started. This will create opportunities for mango processing - mango farmers will not have to worry about mangoes. President of Naogaon District Association Principal Ishaq Hossain presided over the function. President of Naogaon District Chambers of Commerce and Industries Md. Iqbal Shahriar Russell and Md. Abu Hannan Delwar Hossain spoke. The fair is organized by Naogaon District Association, Dhaka. The fair will be open to the public every day from 10 am to 8 pm.
