Bangladeshi killed in S Africa road crash

A Bangladeshi national was killed in a road accident in South Africa on Thursday. 

He left behind his wife, two daughters and a son.

The deceased was identified as Awal Fakir, 45, son of Morjob Ali of Saituta village of Zafarabad union under Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district.

The accident took place in the London area of East Africa on Thursday (February 24) around 3pm (Bangladesh time). 

Awal Fakir's nephew Saifuddin Fakir Milon, former chairman of Zafarabad Union Parishad (UP) under Karimganj Upazila, confirmed the matter. 

He said that Awal Fakir had been running a grocery business in South Africa for 16 years.

Awal Fakir visited us last around two and a half years ago and returned South Africa after 6 months. 

He was hit by a private car while crossing the road in the East London area of the South Cape Province of South Africa. 

He was seriously injured. He was later rescued and taken to a hospital there, where doctors declared him dead.

He sought the cooperation from the authorities concerned to bring Awal Fakir's body back to the country.
