Bangladesh win two silver, one bronze

Bangladesh team won two silver in the recurve men’s team and recurve mixed  team and one bronze in the recurve women’s team event in the Asia Cup Archery  2024 held in Baghdad on Sunday.

Bangladesh recurve men’s team consisted with Hakim Ahmed Rubel, Abdur Rahman Alif and Sagar Islam, who got a bye in the quarterfinal, beat Uzbekistan by 5-1 set in the semifinal, but lost to India by 2-6  set in the day’s final to win the silver. 

Bangladesh recurve mixed team comprised with Sagor Islam and Diya Siddiqui, reached the semifinal beating Pakistan by 17-15 point in the tie breaker and, eliminated Uzbekistan by 5-3 set in the semifinal, but lost to neighboring India by straight 0-6 set in the final to remain satisfied with the silver medal on same day.

Bangladesh  recurve women’s team comrised with Diya Siddiqui, Shima Akter Shimu and Fahima Sultana Nisha won the bronze medal beating hosts Iraq by straight 6-0 set in a bronze medal of deciding match. 

Bangladesh qualified in the bronze medal competition losing after to Uzbekistan by 3-5 set in the semifinal last Thursday.

In the recurve men’s singles bronze medal match, Hakim Ahmed Rubel of Bangladesh lost to Sadikov Uzbekistan by 2-6 set.

Bangladesh compound mixed team, comprised Topu Roy and Meghla Rani won the first medal, a bronze, for the country in the ongoing tournament beating hosts Iraq by 148-145 point in a bronze medal in the deciding match. 

Bangladesh compound mixed team comprising with Topu Roy and Meghla Rani beat their rivals from Kuwait by 151-145 point in the quarterfinal and lost to India by 146-157 score in the semifinal on Thursday last.
