Bangladesh does not want to be a recipient country in cyber tools and cyber solutions.

By working jointly with the government-academia and industry, Bangladesh is working to lead the world in cyber tools and cyber solutions by 2041, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

“To this end, the ICT Department has taken effective steps to build skilled manpower in 4 domains in cyber security, artificial intelligence, robotics and micro processing design under the guidance of the Prime Minister's ICT Adviser in collaboration with educational institutions and industries,” he said. The State Minister made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the country's first ‘Cyber Range Lab’ aimed at enhancing cyber security capabilities under the ICT Department's ‘Establishment of Secure Email and Digital Literacy Center’ project at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on Sunday.

He further said that a well-equipped cyber range has been established in MIST to ensure the security of the country's cyberspace, state digital infrastructure, military-civilian, public-private, financial and commercial

institutions.

“This range will be established in different universities step by step,” he added.  Zunaid Ahmed Palak further mentioned that 13 years ago, cyberspace and digital infrastructure were not that big in the country.

“Since digital Bangladesh has been fully implemented and the goals have been met, ensuring cyber security has become important for the country.

There was a demand for 3.5 million cyber security experts in the world in 2021. The ICT department will be by the side of the educational institutions to meet the demand of these experts,” he said.

The State Minister urged the universities to pay attention to the introduction of subjects like computer and information security along with CSE.

Earlier, the state minister exchanged views with concerned officials including MIST commandant on data analytics, artificial intelligence, and robotics and cybersecurity.

Concerned officials of ICT Division were also present during this time.
