Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir held an impromptu meeting with Türkiye's Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meetings in Manila, the Philippines, on Tuesday.

The leaders held a cordial exchange of views on the growing fraternal partnership between Bangladesh and Türkiye, a senior official said.

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman arrived in Manila from New York earlier in the day to attend the ARF ministerial meetings.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also visiting Manila to participate in the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

During the visit, Rubio is scheduled to meet senior government officials from Indo-Pacific countries, according to the US Department of State.

The department said the visit reflects Washington's commitment to promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific that advances regional safety, security and prosperity.

It added that Rubio's trip aims to demonstrate the tangible benefits of the US-ASEAN partnership while further strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the United States and the Philippines.
