Bangladesh to be one of developed countries

A daylong regional seminar on ‘Contemporary issues in Economic Development of Bangladesh’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday. Bangladesh Economic Association and IU Economics department jointly organised the seminar at Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium on the campus.

Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, vice chancellor of the university inaugurated the seminar while Prof Dr Abul Barkat, President of BEA was present here as chief guest. IU pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha attended the seminar as special guests with Prof Abdul Muid of the department in the chair.

While addressing Abul Barkat said, Bangladesh will be the strongest one among the first 20 economic developed countries in the world. Today, the nation wants discrimination less country which was dreamed by Father of the nation Bangandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he added.

Alomgir Hossain Bhuiyan, convener of the seminar was present here with over 500 teachers and students of the department while more than 60 freedom fighter of the region attended the programme.
