Bangladesh rise in FIFA rankings

Bangladesh football team finally got a decent news in the rankings. Bangladesh has moved up three steps in the FIFA rankings.

Earlier, Bangladesh was at number 187th. Three steps ahead now they have risen to 184th. FIFA released the latest rankings on Thursday.

Bangladesh has won one and drawn one of the two FIFA friendly matches against Nepal. Winning the series has increased the rating points of the red-green jersey holders. Earlier it was 914 rating. Now the rating of Bangladesh has increased by 6 points to 920.

Belgium still at No. 1, FIFA released its final rankings list for 2020 on Friday and set the seedings for the European portion of the World Cup qualifying draw. 

Lionel Messi’s Argentina has risen from number eight to seven. Defending World Cup champion France is in second place, with Brazil third and England fourth. European champion Portugal rounds out the top five, with Spain in sixth, Uruguay in eight, Mexico in nine and Italy in tenth place.

Japan is at the top of the list of Asian countries. Their FIFA ranking is 26. Asian champions Qatar are 59th and fifth in Asia.

India are 104th, Afghanistan 150th, Pakistan 200th and Sri Lanka 206th.
