Bangladesh Navy on Wednesday organised a free medical camp in Koyra upazila of Khulna district, providing healthcare services to around 1,000 people from coastal and nearby areas.

The day-long medical camp was held at Bedkashi Collegiate School premises under the supervision of Commander Khulna Naval Area. An experienced medical team from BNS Upasham conducted the programme.

Men, women and children from different age groups received treatment at the camp. Patients were diagnosed, given medical advice and provided with necessary medicines free of cost, officials said.

Besides treating common illnesses, the medical team also attended to patients suffering from complex diseases with professionalism and care, offering specialised consultations and health guidance.

The programme drew a large number of local residents, who expressed satisfaction and relief after receiving much-needed medical services. Many beneficiaries also conveyed their gratitude to the Navy for such a humanitarian initiative.

Bangladesh Navy, along with ensuring maritime security, protection of marine resources and preventing marine pollution, has been actively engaged in welfare activities for underprivileged communities in coastal and remote areas.

Officials said such initiatives are part of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people by providing healthcare, relief assistance and support during emergencies and disasters.

They added that similar medical outreach programmes will continue in coastal and island regions to ensure access to healthcare services for underserved populations.
