Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan reach semifinals

Kyrgyzstan reached the semifinals of the Bangamata U-19 Women's International Gold Cup Football alongside hosts Bangladesh eliminating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 2-1 goals at Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Wednesday.

Kyrgyzstan will face Bangladesh on Friday (April 26) in their last Group B match to decide the group champions.

Bangladesh, which defeated the UAE by 2-0 goals in the opening group match last Monday, automatically reached semifinals at the coffin of all losers UAE.

Forward Boronbekova Aizhan and Yrysbek Kyzy Kenzhebubu netted one goal each for the winners while Shahd Khaled Alzarkan scored the lone goal for the UAE.

In the 6th minute, Boronbekova Aizhan opened the account for Kyrgyzstan. The forward scored directly with a curved corner kick (1-0).

In the 18th minute, Kyrgyzstan got the second success when awarded a corner kick.

This time, midfielder Yrysbek Kyzy Kenzhebubu doubled the margin by a close range header from the goal mouth melee, off a corner of Boronbekova Aizhan (2-0).

The UAE got a chance to open the account as they were awarded a penalty by referee in the 37th minute.

Midfielder Shahd Khaled Alzarkan converted the spot kick correctly to score their maiden goal of the tournament (2-1).

After the half time, both sides fought hard to take possession of the field.

In the 68th minute, the UAE missed a chance to equalise the margin when they were awarded a penalty. Forward Sendya Gharib Almazrouei failed to net the ball correctly.

But, Kyrgyzstan got a blow just few minutes before the ending. Scorer Boronbekova Aizhan left the ground after being punished by a red card for committing a serious offence in the 42nd minute.

Kyrgyzstan won the game by 2-1 goals eliminating the UAE from the tournament.

Mongolia will face Laos in the second Group A match on Thursday at the same venue. The match will kick off at 6pm (BST).
