Bangladesh in tough group

The second edition of the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup will be held in Malaysia from January 18, 2025. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the upcoming tournament on Saturday. 

Bangladesh youth women's team has been placed in Group 'D' along with the strong team Australia.

In the first edition of the Women's Youth World Cup, Bangladesh and Australia were also in the same group. In inaugural edition was held in South Africa when the Red and Green representatives stunned the favourites after winning the match. Not only that, Bangladesh also went into the Super Six as the group champion. Although the young Tigress could not move into the semi-finals. 

Apart from Australia, the Bangladesh group contains Scotland and Nepal. However, the Aussies, who are dominant teams in both men's and women's world cricket, will play as favourites in the group. The curtain of the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup will be raised on January 18 with the final of the will be taking place on February 2.

Meanwhile, Group 'A' is comprised with West Indies, Sri Lanka and defending champion India. Host Malaysia is also in the group.  

Pakistan, England, Ireland and the United States are in strong Group ‘B’. South Africa, New Zealand, Samoa and Nigeria will play in Group ‘C’. Both African countries are playing the Women’s Youth World Cup for the first time. 

A total of 16 teams are participating in the upcoming World Cup with 12 teams, including the top three teams from each groups will advance to the Super Six phase. They will play splitting into two groups with six teams each and will compete to qualify for the semi-finals. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
