Bangladesh won silver in the boys' team event in the 10m air rifle at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Grand Prix in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday. That team won bronze in the three position of 50 meter rifle on Tuesday. Shovon Chowdhury, Rabbi Hasan and Yusuf Ali represented Bangladesh.

Bangladesh defeated Singapore in the bronze medal match. Shovon, Rabbi and Yusuf's Bangladesh score was 17 points. Singapore's C Jun Ren, Marat Leyton Veloso and Tianrui Guy combined for 15 points. So far Bangladesh has won 1 silver and 4 bronze medals in the tournament.

Earlier, Nafisa Tabassum won bronze in the girls' 10m air rifle singles. After that, Nafisa won bronze in the mixed team event by teaming up with Yusuf Ali. Besides, Bangladesh team comprising Nafisa Tabassum, Syeda Atkia Hasan and Sajida Haque won bronze in women's 10m air rifle team.

Bangladesh has not been successful in international competition in rifle for so long. The federation relied on local coaches after Swedish rifle coach Claus Christiensen left his job in 2018. But last month a new rifle coach, Mohammad Zayer Rezai, was brought in from Iran. The shooters of Bangladesh have started getting success with the arrival of new coaches. However, Shovon Chowdhury and Rabbi Hasan are returning to the country with a number of medals along with inexperienced Yusuf Ali in the international tournament.
