Bangladesh Army sets up field hospital

Bangladesh Army sent medical assistances and reliefs among the distressed  tribal communities in the remote areas of Bandarban hill district.

They also set up a field hospital  to provide medical treatment.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, a officer concerned of Bangladesh Army headquarters confirmed it on Tuesday.

According to the local sources,  there has been a massive outbreak of cholera in Mangrum Para, Manliu Para and Samathong Para of Kurukpata Union in Alikadam Upazila of Bandarban.

At present, about 137 women, men and children of the Murang community are suffering of cholera in these areas. Some of the victims have already died. From the beginning of the cholera outbreak in the area, the army patrol team are distributing free drinking water, water purification tablets, saline and other essential medicines.

When the physical condition of the victims deteriorated further, the 24th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army  decided to send a medical team from the Ali Kadam Army Zone under the supervision of the Bandarban Region. 

The medical team, along with a team of specialist doctors from the local Upazila Health Complex, flew to the affected area by helicopter on 14 June with a large quantity of medicines, water purification tablets, saline and dry food and pure drinking water.

The medical team will continue to provide necessary medical services by setting up a field hospital there until the physical condition of the victims improves.

Army sources said such humanitarian   operation of the army in the Chittagong Hill Tracts will be continued.
