Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that Bangabandhu and his ideology cannot be contained just by chanting slogans in the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  The responsibility does not end with the slogan alone.  In order to hold the ideology of Bangabandhu, one has to follow the path shown by him.

The way he continued his relentless efforts behind the Bengali nation, we also have to devote ourselves to the welfare of the country and the nation keeping in mind his ideology.

She was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting held at the grounds of Chittagong University (CU) Shahid Abdur Rob Hall on the occasion of Independence Day on Saturday.  He joined the event online as the chief guest.

She said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman taught us how to stand against injustice.  He taught us how to fight for our rights.

The Education Minister said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman laid the foundation of all the achievements of the country today in all fields including education, health and trade. After 1971, the per capita income of Bangabandhu-led Bangladesh increased by leaps and bounds.  But since the brutal assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975, the country's per capita income has plummeted.  Since then, we have always moved forward and sometimes backward.  But at this time, thanks to the efforts of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina, we have become a middle-income country.

Deputy Minister of Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel joined the event as a special guest.

The meeting was chaired by Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shirin Akhtar and conducted by Proctor Dr Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan.  Chittagong University Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Benu Kumar Dey, Registrar (Acting) Prof SM Monirul Hasan spoke on the occasion.

Also present were the provosts of the dormitory halls of the university, members of the proctorial body, teachers of different departments of the university, officers and employees of different boards of the university and students of different departments.
