Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed in dists

The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed on Wednesday in a befitting manner throughout the country.

Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations, different socio-cultural organisations, political organisations and educational institutions took out several programmes to celebrate the day.

Khulna Correspondent reports: The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed Wednesday in a befitting manner in Khulna.

On January 10 in 1972, Bangabandhu returned to independent and sovereign Bangladesh after over nine and a half months' captivity in a Pakistan jail.

Khulna City and District Units of Awami League and its associate organisations observed the Homecoming Day through various programmes.

Marking the Day, leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and party flags atop the party office and placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the party office.

Besides, they held a discussion highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu along with his contribution to the nation's independence.

Chaired by Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, President of district unit AL and chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad, city unit AL President and KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul

Khaleque addressed the meeting as chief guest. 

Netrakona Correspondent writes: The Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in the district Wednesday in a befitting manner.

Netrakona District Awami League (AL) and its front organisations took various programmes to observe the day.

The day's programme formally began with the hoisting of national flag and party flag atop the district AL Office and placing of wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu by central leaders of the Awami League.

As a part of the programme, a discussion on the political life of Bangabandhu' was held in the district AL office at Choto Bazer here.

Chaired by president of AL Netrakona District Unit Adv Amirul Islam, the meeting was addressed, among others, by district level AL leaders including mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, Advocate Mohammad Shahidullah, Professor Bijon Sarker, Mojibul Alam Hira, Advocate Rasel Ahmed, Maruf Hasan Khan and Abdul Kaiyum Rokon.

Rajshahi Correspondent reports: The Home coming Day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Muibur Rahman was observed by local Unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations and different other institutions in a befitting manner on Wednesday.

Marking the day, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) garlanded the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the City Bhaban premises. RCC officials and ward councilors also offered special prayers seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of his departed soul.

They also placed wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at C&B Crossing to mark the day.

The leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and party flags atop at party offices and garlanded the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders this morning.

 A discussion was also held highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Pabna Municipal Mayor Sharif Uddin Prodhan and leaders of district Awami League, district Jubo League, district Chhatra League, district Mohila Awami League, district Sramik League and district Jubo Mohila Awami League, among others, were present.

Besides, Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), Pabna Zilla Parishad and other educational institutions organized different programmes to mark the day.

After the rally, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Hafiza Khatun, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Mustafa Kamal Khan, Treasurer Professor Dr. KM Salah Uddin and Registrar Bijan Kumar Brahm paid tributes at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
