Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed at RU

The Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in Rajshahi University in a befitting manner on Sunday (January 10). The day programme starts with the placing of floral wreath at the foot of the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall by Vice-Chancellor of RU Prof M Abdus Sobhan. Afterwards, doa was offered and one minute of silence was observed.

Among others, the programme was attended, among others, by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Kumar Saha, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Chowdhury Zakaria, Treasurer AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Administrator of Public Relations Department Dr. Azizur Rahman, Deans of various Faculties, Professor Dr. Chittaranjam Mitra, Director of IBS, Directors of various Institutes of RU, Hall Provosts, teachers and officials. Later, a discussion meeting was held at Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Senate Bhaban where Vice-Chancellor Professor M. Abdus Sobhan presided over and Registrar of RU Professor Abdus salam conducted the meeting.  

Professor M. Abdus Sobhan in his speech said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the best Bangales personalities for all ages who was released from the jail of Pakistan and returned to Bangladesh on January-10, 1972. 

By receiving the great leader to Bangladesh among us, people of the country were able to fulfil the final victory of the freedom struggle with joy and enthusiasm.

Vice-Chancellor also mentioned the contribution of the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for freeing Bangabandhu from the Pakistani jail.
