Awami League leaders at a discussion said that only Bangabandhu and his family members were not brutally killed on August 15 in 1975, attempts were made to destroy the dream of establishing a newly independent state and building a non-communal Bangladesh in the spirit of the War of Liberation.

The discussion and prayer meeting was held in Jashore District Awami League office on Wednesday on the occasion of 45th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day

In a discussion meeting organized by Sadar Upazila Mahila Awami League, the leaders further said that after the assassination of Bangabandhu, this country started running towards darkness and corruption.

From that darkness the people's leader Sheikh Hasina took the helm of the Awami League and shouldered the responsibility of building the country by organizing the Awami League.

The right to vote, the right to rice, and the right to democracy of the people of the country came back through Bangabandhu’s hands. Bangabandhu's contribution to our national history is immense. Bangabandhu was the symbol of national unity, inspiration and independence, the embodiment of the dream of the Bengali nation. Bangabandhu dreamed of building a Sonar Bangla.

That dream is on the way to be realized now with the help of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. So everyone has to wish the leader well and maintain the unity of the party. If there is unity, it is possible to deal with any force.

Jashore Sadar upazila Mahila Awami League President Anwara Begum presided over the function while Sadar upazila Awami League President Mohit Kumar Nath spoke as the chief guest. Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad and District Women Awami League Leader Nur Jahan Islam Nira, General Secretary of Sadar Upazila Awami League and UP Chairman Shahrul Islam spoke as special guests.

Former Vice Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Sultan Mahmud Bipul, District Juba League Publicity Secretary Sheikh Zahid Hossain Milon, Jashore Municipality Councilor and Women Awami League Leader Rokeya Parveen Dolly, District Women Awami League Leader Jotna Ara Milli, Jashore Municipality Councilor Nasima Akter Joly, Poura Women Awami League president Rehena Parvin also spoke in the discussion meeting.
