Before the end of Mujib Barsho, Bangladesh is about to make a world record through the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman created on a crop field in Bogura.

The crop field mosaic of Bangabandhu created on one-hundred-Bigha land in Balenda village under Sherpur upazila of Bogura, has already become visible in the birds eye view. This mosaic is about to become the largest crop field mosaic in the world.

Two representatives of Guinness World Records visited the crop field mosaic in Bogura on Tuesday afternoon. Guinness World Records authorities are expected to report the results within a week of receiving the report of their representatives.

Bangladesh will soon break the records of India, Britain, Japan and China. It will be ranked in the Guinness World Records as the fifth country to create a grain portrait. The last grain portrait was made in China in 2019, with an area of 8 lakh 55 thousand 786 square feet.

Whereas, the size of Bangabandhu's grain portrait in Balenda village is 12 lakh 92 thousand square feet. The portrait is 400 meters long and 300 meters wide.

According to the information primarily given by the representatives of World Guinness Records, all the conditions of Guinness World Records have been met in the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, two varieties of paddy saplings were planted in Sherpur upazila of Bogura with a lease of 120 Bighas of land. Among that, 100 Bighas of land contains the portrait of Bangabandhu.

The delegates nominated by the Guinness World Records are former Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Professor Kamal Uddin Ahmed and Professor of Pathology of Bangladesh Agricultural University Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury.

Professor Kamal Uddin Ahmed said that Bangabandhu’s image has been depicted properly in the grain picture, which is identical to Bangabandhu’s image made in the mosaic sketch. There are two types of colors used in the sketch, which are the same as the color of the grains. This is a crop field mosaic and there is no artificiality here. The distance of each seedling is 8 inches, which is the exact measurement of planting.

He further said, “In order to get this portrait of Bangabandhu in the Guinness Book of World Records, 40 percent of the grain must be base and 60 percent must be the original image. The surveyor will give the correct information whether it is correct. We are satisfied with this grain image and we will send today's report to the head office of Guinness World Records in England in two to three days”.

Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and

convener of Bangabandhu Jatiya Parishad AFM Bahauddin Nasim, President of Central Krishak League Krishibid Samir Chanda, Bogra-5 MP Habibur Rahman, Vice-President of Central Swecchasebak League Md Abdur Razzak and others were also present on the occasion.

After inspecting the project area, AFM Bahauddin Nasim said, "This is a different kind of programme to celebrate Mujib Barsho. The portrait of the Father of the Nation will be displayed all over the world through this aesthetic portrait, which will get a place in the world Guinness record.

Sherpur Upazila Administration is surveying this project of grain portrait. This team in charge of the surveying includes Upazila Land Officer Sabrina Sharmin, Upazila Surveyor Habibul Islam Bablu and Saiful Islam.

The portrait was created at the initiative of the National Assembly formed on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and funded by a private company called National Agricare.
