Bangabandhu's close companion Azizur Rahman passed away

Freedom fighter Azizur Rahman, a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is no more. He died of the deadly coronavirus. 

He breathed his last at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) in the capital on Monday (August 17).

Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mir Nahid Ahsan confirmed the matter on Tuesday (August 18) morning.

According to district council sources, Azizur Rahman was a former member of the constituent assembly and a member of parliament more than once. He was also awarded the Independence Award. He was the former president of the local Awami League and the district coordinator of 14 parties. Most recently, Azizur Rahman was the chairman of Moulvibazar Zilla Parishad and Red Crescent.

On August 5, his sample was tested on suspicion of infection. Azizur Rahman's test report came as positive. He was immediately admitted to BSMMU Hospital in Dhaka by air ambulance on the instructions of the Prime Minister. He died while undergoing treatment there.
