Bangabandhu District Volleyball League-2021 was inaugurated in Khagrachhari on Friday, jointly organised by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation and Khagrachhari District Sports Association.
Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Mangsuipru Chowdhury Apu inaugurated the volleyball league as the chief guest on the stadium premises.
At that time, he said that the government has taken various initiatives to make youths sports-oriented. The country can be taken far ahead through sports. Therefore, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invoked the youth to concentrate on sports as well as education. The District Council Chairman assured to stand by the good players and create opportunities for their employment. Additional Deputy Commissioner Habib Ullah Maruf presided over the ceremony. Khagrachhari Municipality Mayor Nirmalendu Chowdhury, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shane Alam, ASP Zinnia Chakma of sadar circle and General Secretary of District Sports Organization Jewel Chakma were present at this time among others.
The speakers highlighted the various contributions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in sports.
Later, the guests inaugurated the Bangabandhu Volleyball League by flying balloons. Friends-98 vs Marma Youth Welfare Association of District Sadar participated in the opening match. Marma Youth Welfare Association won the set at 2-0. 16 teams took part in this game in round league system.
