Bakery gutted in Kalkini upazila

A fire incident in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur caused a loss of Tk 10 lakh including Tk 3 lakh in cash. One person was injured while trying to put out the fire. The injured have been given medical treatment.

According to the people in the area, at a bakery called Bismillah Bakery in Majidbari area of Bhurghata, the employees of the bakery got up at 3 am and went out to have breakfast in the morning. The owner of the bakery woke up in the morning and saw the fire. He came to put out the fire. Sensing the danger, people in the area rushed to the spot and tried to control the fire. A refrigerator, flour mixer machine, fans, various dices and some other machines were burnt in the fire. This caused a loss of ten lakh rupees including three lakh Tk in cash. Mehedi Hasan, the owner of the bakery, said, "Everything is over when my bakery catches fire from the current meter. I built the bakery with a loan from the bank. Everything was burnt to ashes.”

Kalkini Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Saiful Islam said, "We have heard about the fire incident. Aid from upazila administration will be provided to the victim.”
