Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that man has conquered nature and by destroying the balance of nature, man has created the crisis.  There is no substitute for public awareness to overcome this crisis.  The government has given importance to ensuring sustainable forest management and forest conservation through people's participation.  Chattogram City Corporation organizes this festival of green revolution with the hope of creating a beautiful Chattogram to take clean breath with care for green.  Chattogram has been playing a leading role in all fields.  The anti-British movement was first started from Chattogram in undivided India.  That is why Mahatma Gandhi was forced to speak at the Nagpur Conference in Chattogram first.  Poet Sukanta Bhattacharya praised the brave role of people of Chittagong in his poetry and wrote Chattogram poem.  Chattogram was once recognized as the natural queen of the East.  We destroyed the beauty of that queen.  We have to take this responsibility.  So there is enough justification to take this program in the beautiful Chattogram.

He said, if we can make boys and girls aware about greening in schools and colleges, then we will be able to build Chattogram as a greening city.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest in Chattogram City Corporation and Tilottama Chattogram organized Nandanik Mayor award through a red carpet photo shoot at Chattogram Radisson Blu Bay View Mezban Hall as the chief guest CCC Mayor on Friday night.

CCC Mayor said that the silent revolution of greening is going on in Greater Chattogram in harmony with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's determination to build a green Bangladesh.  Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman laid the greatest importance on the conservation of nature and environment.  After the independence of Bangladesh, he planted trees in various government institutions including Ganobhaban and Bangabhaban to encourage everyone to plant trees.  In order to encourage the people to continue this trend of greening, the Mayor's Award has been given in the organization of Chattogram City Corporation and with the cooperation of Nandanik Chattogram's Tilottama.
