Award given for contribution to tobacco control

Some people have been awarded the ‘Change Maker Award for the Year 2022’ for their contribution to the tobacco control movement in Bangladesh. An organisation named ‘Dhumpane Nirutshahito Kora (Discouragement in Smoking-Dhunik)’ hosted the award. 

The recipients of the ‘Change Maker Award for the Year 2022’ are- Helal Ahmed of Pratyasha Anti-Drug’s Club, Baharam Khan Seron of Daily Samakal, Ehsanul Haque Jasim of Daily Bangladesh Post, Moin Uddin Ahamed of Daily New Nation, Afroza Khanam of Nirapad Development Foundation, Md. Akbar Hossain of Swadesh Mottitika Manab Unnoyon Songstha, journalist Aynal Hossain, and Mir Abdur Razzak of SAF Kushtia. 

The award giving ceremony was held at the Grand Mahal Restaurant in Dhaka city on Saturday (August 6) with executive director of Dhunik Abdul Hai Khokon in the chair. 

Bangladesh Supreme Court’s lawyer Advocate Shafiqur Rahman spoke on the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr Almasur Rahman of Theosophical Society was present at the event as the guest of honor. Executive editor of pratysa.com and chairman of Nirapad Development Foundation Ibnul Syed Rana, president of Nirapad Samaj Unnoyon Songstha Shahab Uddin Shaheen, assistant professor Dia Haque, Tania Sheikh of Swadesh Mottitika Manab Unnoyon Songstha also spoke at the event, among others. 

At the event, a news portal pratysa.com was launched. Abdul Hai Khokon is the editor of the news portal, while Ibnul Syed Rana is the executive editor.
