Awami League guards BNP’s march in Mirsharai

Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League were on guard in every area in Mirsharai during Saturday's nationwide march announced by BNP. At some places the party also held peace meetings. On the other hand, BNP activists were also seen in some areas. Meanwhile, they also distributed leaflets with 10-point demands announced by the party.

It is known that the leaders and activists of the ruling party took a stand against the march of BNP in 16 unions and two municipal areas of the upazila. From Saturday morning, it has been seen that the local Awami League leaders held a peaceful rally in the Durgapur, Wahedpur Union and Mirsharai Municipal areas of the upazila.  On the other hand, upazila BNP convener Shahidul Islam Chowdhury distributed leaflets in several unions including Kerhat, Shaherkhali, Moghadiya. However, the leaders and workers of the party participated in the march for a few hours before 10 am, but due to the position of the ruling party, they were no longer seen in the field.

In this regard, Mirsharai Upazila BNP convener Shahidul Islam Chowdhury said, "We have been distributing leaflets containing the 10-point demands announced by the party from the ground since morning. We marched in several unions before 12 noon. Our march schedule will be implemented in the rest of the areas as well.' The BNP leader said about the Awami League's sit-in program in the name of peace rally, 'We do not care about these muscle-based programs of the Awami League. We will continue our program.

President of Mirsharai Upazila Awami League Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury said, 'Awami League is holding a peaceful rally in total 18 units of the upazila. BNP has completely failed in the Padayatra programme.
