Autorickshaw driver beaten to death in Munshiganj

An auto-rickshaw driver named Julhas Hawladar (35) was beaten to death in Lohajang of Munshiganj. Police have arrested 10 guards of the Padma Bridge rail link project in connection to the incident. 

At around 6:30 am on Friday, Julhas was brutally beaten to death by security guards working on the Padma Bridge rail link project on accusation of theft.  The incident took place under the 3rd and 4th pillars of the Padma Bridge Railway in Kumarbhog Union of the upazila. Victim's wife Jasmine Akhter has filed a murder case with the Louhjong police station later.

According to local and police sources, a group of 15/18 security personnel working on the Padma Bridge tied Julhas and beaten him with rods randomly mistaking him as a thief. Later, the security staff shift manager Selim informed Julhas's family and his relatives came running. 

Julhas’s family members found him lying on the ground in a bloody state with his hands and feet tied. He was later rushed to Srinagar Government Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The body of the deceased has been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital Morgue for autopsy. 

Meanwhile, the police came to the spot and arrested 7 people. They were later interrogated and three more were arrested. The arrestees were identified as Selim, Rabbi, Tapu, Al-Amin, Arif, Abdul Mannan, Israfil. The identities of the other three are not yet known. All of the detainees work as security guards of Padma bridge rail link project.

Police are interrogating the arrestees. Police are also conducting an operation to arrest those involved in the incident. Additional Assistant Superintendent of Police (Srinagar Circle) Md Asaduzzaman and Louhjong police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Alamgir Hossain confirmed the information.
