Austrian cooperation sought for infrastructure development

A view-exchange meeting between Austrian trade delegation and President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam was held in the Chamber's office at World Trade Centre in Chattogram city on Wednesday.

At this time Commercial Counselor of the Austrian Embassy in Delhi, Dr. Robert Luck, Senior Business Analyst Doris Jones (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives), Director of the Chamber Md. Ahid Siraj Chowdhury, Anjan Shekhar Das, Md. Abdul Mannan Sohail, Syed Mohammad Tanvir, Rohit Jain and Mosaddek Alam were present among others. 

During the meeting, Chamber President Mahbubul Alam referring to the excellent business relationship between Bangladesh and Austria emphasized on the regular interaction between the businessmen of both countries, remarking that the private sector is the main driving force of the country's economy.  

Mahbubul Alam sought Austrian cooperation in establishing infrastructure, bay terminals, human resources development, technical education institutions in the country's potential sectors.  He also requested the cooperation of the delegation to encourage the investment of Austrian entrepreneurs in this country, especially in Chittagong economic zone.

Dr. Robert Luck described the current economy of Bangladesh as astonishing and expressed Austrian entrepreneurs’ interest in investing in this country.  He referred to regular communication as an important controller for bilateral relations.
