Australian co keen to work with CUET

Australia-based international development consultancy firm SMEC, formerly Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation, expressed its interest to work with Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).

Syed Ahmed, executive director (Bangladesh) at SMEC, expressed the interest while paying a courtesy call on the CUET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam at the latter’s office on Sunday, said a press release.

During the meeting, the SMEC delegation said they are keen to ink a mutual cooperation agreement with CUET to provide the students with internships and project-based employment opportunities.

In addition, the two institutions will have the opportunity to conduct research together to solve various civil engineering related problems.

Prof Dr. Raushan Mumtaz of Department of Civil Engineering, BUET, Prof. Dr. Md. Rabiul Alam, Dean of CUET’s Civil Engineering faculty, Prof Dr GM Sadiqul Islam, head of Architecture department, and Prof Dr Ayesha Akhtar, chairman of Center for River, Harbor and Landslide Research, were also present.
