An Australian national died in a motorbike accident on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road in the Inani Sonarpara area under Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Daniel Paul, 49, a resident of Sydney in Australia, Superintendent of Police of the district Mohammad Rahmat Ullah said.
When Daniel was driving a rented motorcycle on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road, he hit a roadside tree after losing control over the steering around 6pm, leaving him dead on the spot, SP said.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station Mohammad Arif Hossain said.
Daniel Paul arrived in Cox's Bazar four days ago. The Australian Embassy in Dhaka has been informed about his death, the OC added. Cox's Bazar Police Super Mohammad Rahmat Ullah said that Daniel Paul was traveling on a rented motorcycle on Marine Drive. At one point, he lost control over the motorcycle and hit a roadside tree and suffered a fatal accident. He died on the spot.
