ATU arrests three militants

Anti- Terrorist Unit of Bangladesh Police in its special anti-militant operation arrested three members of the banned Islamist terrorists  outfitAnsar al-Islam from different parts of the country.

The arrested alleged militants were identified as  MdZahidur Rahman alias Zahid, 28 , Shahadat Hossain, 25 and Mohammad Shiblu alias Rafiqul Islam Shiblu alias Jodha of Hind, 20.

However, Shiblu was a leader among them.

ATU's Media and Awareness Branch Superintendent of Police Mohammad Aslam Khan confirmed it on Friday.

He said   we at first arrested Mohammad Shiblu from Noakhali on Thursday. Later, according to his information, we nabbed Zahid and Shahadat from Comilla on Friday morning. We also seized seven extremist ideological books, four smart, one-button mobile phones and 10 SIM cards from their possessions. 

ATU officials claimed that the arrested militants had been carrying out various activities for a long time to establish Kilafath state in Bangladesh through online militancy and anti-state conspiracy.

The three arrested were very active members of Ansar al-Islam. They were using social media platform for plan and train for the sabotage, opening various secured groups and discussing among themselves.

Aslam Khan claimed that secret meetings were held every month to decide how the banned organization could be used to promote in the country by motivating the radicalized youth and other members of the organization under the leadership of Shiblu. 

Legal action against the arrestees is under process, he added.
