ASSET working to promote vocational education, skill development

In an attempt to promote vocational education and skill enhancement, The Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) organized an innovative competition called the Skills and Innovation Competition 2023. The event was held in collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Education, Department of Technical and Madrasa Education, Ministry of Education at the International Convention Centre in Chittagong on April 6.

The competition aimed to highlight the proficiency and talents of Bangladesh's skilled workforce across various technical disciplines. Participants from diverse backgrounds competed in skill-based challenges, providing a platform for them to showcase their expertise and creativity in their respective fields. Esteemed officials and experts in technical education were present to offer insights into the importance of skill development initiatives in shaping the future workforce.

The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including the Honorable Minister of Education Ministry Mr. Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, M.P, the Honorable Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Heroic Freedom Fighter Mr. Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, MP, Hon'ble Minister of State for Finance Ms. Begum Wasika Ayesha Khan, MP, Honorable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation, Heroic Freedom Fighter Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Department of the Ministry of Education Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Director General of Technical Education Mr. Md. Aziz Taher Khan, Additional Divisional Commissioner, General Mr. Muhammad Anwar Pasha, and ADC(Revenue), Chattogram Mr. Md. Abdul Malek.

The winners of the competition were declared by the Honorable Minister of Education Ministry Mr. Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, M.P. Comilla Polytechnic Institute took first place for their IOT based Appliances Control System, while the Bangladesh Sweden Polytechnic Institute won second place for their invention of Smart Foot Over Bridge. The third winner was Bangladesh Sweden Polytechnic Institute for their International Smart Academic Infrastructure.

The Asset Skills and Innovation Competition 2023 was a resounding success and highlighted the importance of skill development in driving economic growth and societal development.
