Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director and Age Group Committee Chairman Asif Akbar has urged parents, society, and relevant authorities to guide the youth onto the right path, saying, “We want our children to return to sports instead of falling into drug addiction. The upcoming, current, and future generations must listen to the advice and guidance of elders. Bringing positive change in life is each person’s responsibility.”
He added, “A new era has come, a new Bangladesh has emerged. To promote this Bangladesh, everyone must work with dedication. I and the BCB are with you.”
Asif made these remarks on Thursday morning at Thakurgaon District Stadium during a BCB-organized event aimed at enhancing the skills of age-level cricketers and nurturing future stars. The program included the “Age Group Cricket Development Campaign” and a meeting with young cricketers, followed by a press conference.
He emphasized that sports are not just a form of entertainment but a vital tool for shaping character, mental growth, and a healthy lifestyle. He also called for using sports to create a drug-free society.
Additionally, Asif assured the provision of all facilities for female athletes, including dressing rooms, and promised to supply all necessary sports equipment.
Present at the event were BCB Director Hasanuzzaman, GDC Member Secretary Armanul Islam, BCB umpire Shakir, and Thakurgaon District Cricket Coach Rokunzzaman Rahat, among others. They advised players on discipline, skill development, and mental strength, and conducted practical training sessions.
Earlier, Asif inspected the stadium’s infrastructure.
