Ashraful hits fifty as Nasum-Mahedi bag fifer at BCL opener

Islami Bank East Zone faced BCB South Zone in the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) opener at Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium (SKS), Rajshahi on Sunday. 

In reply to East Zone’s 260 runs in the first innings, South Zone scored 3 without losing any wickets at the close of the day’s play. South Zone still trail by 257 runs against Imrul Kayes’s side at stumps.

Earlier, East Zone was invited to bat first after winning the toss. The openers made a good start for the side and put on a 100-run stand as captain Imrul scored 46 and Mohammad Ashraful scored 61, also became the highest run-getter of the innings.

BCB North Zone vs Walton Central Zone

Walton Central Zone scored 61 without loss of any wickets in reply to BCB North Zone’s 219 on the opening day of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

Central zone still trail by 158 runs against North Zone at the draw of stumps. Mohammad Mithun and Mizanur Rahman were batting on 43 and 18 respectively.

Earlier, North Zone scored 219 with the openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon combined 62 runs for the opening stand. Tanzid scored 32 while Emon fell short of four runs to hit a half-century. Then Marshal Ayub played a knock of 35 runs off 82 aided by four boundaries.

Robiul Haque bagged three wickets while Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury took a couple of wickets for Central Zone.
