A member of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) was arrested after Ukhiya Armed Police Battalion (APBn-14) conducted a special joint drive with BGB in Rohyingya camp 20 and the extended areas of the camp in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
The detainee was identified as Hamid Hossain, 35, son of Mohammad Shafi, resident of block F/2 at Rohingya camp 3 in Ukhiya. He is accused in the FIR of three cases, including two murder cases.
Commander of APBn-14 (Additional DIG) Md Iqbal confirmed the matter. He said Rohigya Hamid Hossain, who is accused in the FIR of three cases, including two murder cases, was arrested during the drive. A one-shooter gun and one round of shotgun cartridge were recovered from his possession after conducting a body search. The accused was brought to the camp custody and later he was transferred to Ukhiya police station. Process was ongoing to file a case in this connection.
Mohammad Iqbal also said a total of 88 members, including 70 members of APBn-14 and 18 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), participated in the joint drive. Security system of Rohingya camp was strengthened and important measures were taken to maintain law and order through this drive.
