Arrest of Murder accused demanded

After killing an older man named Mansur Mollah, 65, of Dadpur village in Dadpur union of Boalmari upazila in Faridpur by brutally beating him to death with a hammer the accused are now threatening the victim's family.

In this situation, the villagers have organized a procession and human chain demanding immediate arrest of the accused in this case.

The human chain was held at Dadpur village around 10 am on Friday. Hundreds of villagers, including the victim's wife Rokeya Begum (56) and children, took part in it.

On Tuesday, April 21, Munsur Mollah was hacked to death and several others were injured. Mukul Mollah, 35, son of the deceased, became the plaintiff in the case and filed a murder case against former UP chairman Shamim Mollah, naming 21 others and 15/16 other unidentified persons.

Mukul Mollah said Shamim Mollah is roaming around in the area publicly and the people of Shamim Mollah are threatening them.

A man named Sirajul Islam alias Jaku Sardar said that Shamim Mollah’s Gang had beaten and severely injured him on May 16 as he was a witness in the murder case and they are still threatening him.

Sheikh Manzur Rahman Tushar, a young man who took part in the human chain, said that after the murder of Mansur Mollah, a fake video was posted on Facebook to divert the incident.

SI Qayyum, the investigating officer in the Mansur murder case, said four people have been arrested in connection to the case. An operation is underway to  arrest accused Shamim Mollah and others.
