Army starts patrolling in dists

Alongside the Dhaka city, members of the Bangladesh Army started patrolling in various districts in the country to ensure social distancing and implementation of precautionary measures to curb coronavirus transmission. 

The Army men have been deployed in Thakurgaon on Wednesday. They will work in coordination with the district administration to maintain social distance, avoid public meetings and ensure home quarantine.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Thakurgaon Dr KM Kamruzzaman Selim confirmed the matter. The DC said that two army companies, led by Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiar and Major Fahad, arrived in Thakurgaon on Tuesday. They attended a meeting with the district administration on Wednesday morning.

Later, they started patrolling the streets of various upazilas in the district. The DC added that they will work in coordination with the civil administration. They will work to ensure home quarantine for overseas returned citizens,  monitor market and assist poor people. Currently two companies of 250 army parsonnel are stationed here in 5 upazilas of the district.
