The Bangladesh Army has taken various steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 across the country.
They are also actively working in the fields to implement the strict lockdown enforced by the government.
As part of army’s humanitarian operation, army’s special team is providing medical services to the pregnant mothers. The 30th Field Regiment of the 47th Independent Infantry Brigade of the Bangladesh Army provided free healthcare and medicine to the pregnant mothers at the Shaheed Sheikh Russell Government High School in the Hazaribagh area of the capital on Wednesday.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Major MdMazharul Islam Bhuiyan, confirmed it. The medical campaign was conducted under the management of 30 Field Regiment Artillery and 61 Field Ambulances under the 46 Independent Infantry Brigade of the Bangladesh Army.
Lt. Col. Mohsin Hasan , commander of the 30th Field Regiment of the Army's 46th Independent Infantry Brigade said, Hazaribagh is one of the most densely populated and underprivileged areas of the capital.
The number of standard public and private hospitals in the area is very inadequate. Due to the global epidemic, it has become very difficult for pregnant mothers to get health care, he added. Lt Col Md Mohseen Hasan, Commanding Officer, 30 Field Artillery,said it has become very difficult for pregnant mothers, especially in the Hazaribagh area, to get medical advice or to undergo various tests due the rising risk of Covid-19.
Many pregnant mothers are being deprived of proper health care due to ongoing lockdown.
Lt Col Md Mohseen Hasan said, our today’s medical campaign provided free medical services and medicines to more than two hundred pregnant mothers in the area through experienced female doctors.
Such humanitarian activities will continue in future on behalf of the army, he continued.
According to the army sources, some daily essentials for pregnant mothers were donated by Brigadier General M Imran Hamid, Brigade Commander of the 46th Infantry Brigade and Lt Col Md Mohseen Hasan, Commander of the 30th Field Regiment Artillery.
Lt Col Rezaul Islam, Commanding Officer 61 Field Ambulance, Major AshekImtiaz, Major Md Mazharul Islam Bhuiyan, local ward councilor Iliasur Rahman, Health Officer Dr. Sadat Ahmed and other local dignitaries were present on the occasion.
