Under the supervision of Bandarban Armed Forces Zone, exchange meetings and receptions with newly elected chairmen and members were organized in 08 unions of Bandarban Sadar Upazila.
On Wednesday, an exchange meeting and reception was held with the newly elected chairmen and ward members of six Union Parishads under Bandarban Sadar Upazila under the initiative of Captain Misbahul Islam Fuad, Zonal Staff Officer of Bandarban Zone.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahmudul Hasan, Zone Commander, Bandarban Army Zone was present as the Chief Guest of the function.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Lt Colonel Mahmudul Hasan said that the army is a name of confidence of the people. The army has always provided maximum security to the people besides providing them with strict security arrangements. Addressing the people's representatives, he called upon them to cooperate in improving the quality of life by ensuring balanced rights of the people and emphasizing on the basic needs of the people. He also vowed to rid the hills of terrorism. He also called upon the administration to extend maximum cooperation for the happiness, peace and security of the people.
At the end, he gave a reception among the newly elected people's representatives by giving gifts.
The chairmen of all the unions present among the invited guests in their speeches pledged to ensure maximum service to the people as public representatives. They also assured the security forces of full cooperation to restore peace in the hilly areas.
