Bangladesh Army on Thursday arrested four armed terrorists of the terrorist United People's Democratic Front (UPDF- PrasitBikashKhisa) from Khangrachhari district.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post on Friday, an officerconcerned ofthe Bangladesh Army’s Headquarters in the capital Dhaka confirmed it.
They arrested terrorists were identified as Durjoy Chakma ,32, Aongthai Marma,22 , KanchaiMarma, and ChailaMarma ,19, all hailing from GuimaraUpazila of the district. According to the army officer, getting secret information, a patrol team of Bangladesh Army’s Sindukchhari Zone conducted a raid in Chhankhola Para and Sindukchhari area and arrested four toll collectors of UPDF. Army personnel also seized with weapons from their possessions.
According to the sources in army, UPDF terrorists opened fire on an army patrol when an army patrol arrived at the scene after getting intelligence reports that some UPDF terrorists were collecting extortions from locals at gun points.
In response, the army patrol team retaliated by firing on the terrorists and arrested the four UPDF terrorists.
Two firearms, six mobile phones, cash and a large number of receipts for extortions, were also seized from their possessions. The Army officialsaid they will continue such operations to maintain the security and stability in the Chittagong Hill Tracts area. Sub Inspector MohamamdAbul Bashar, duty officer of the Guimara Police Station told Bangladesh Post that a case was filed on Friday against four arrested UPDF armed caders in this connection. In the wake of the extortions and terrorism by the armed caders of the UPDF, locals demanded stern action against the armed terrorist forces of the (UPDF- Prasit group).
